Prof. Sudipto DASGUPTA
Prof. Sudipto Dasgupta received his PhD from the University of Southern California in 1987. He taught at the Department of Finance and Business Economics at the School of Business and Management of the University of Southern California from 1987-1993. He was Assistant Professor at the Department of Finance at HKUST from 1993-97. He then re-joined HKUST in 2000 as Associate Professor of Finance, after serving as the State Bank of India Chair Professor of Finance at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in India for two years. He has been a visiting professor of Finance at University of Gothenburg, Sweden, on several occasions. He is currently Chair Professor of Finance and Director of Centre for Asian Financial Markets at HKUST.
Prof. Dasgupta's research interests are mainly in the areas of Corporate Finance, Applied Microeconomics, Game Theory, Auction Theory and Industrial Organization. He has worked on optimal auction methods for government procurement, financial policy of companies, the theory of joint venture formation and breakdowns, corporate governance, bidding for takeover targets and emerging market issues. He has a number of publications in journals like Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, etc.
