Prof. Chen Songnian received his PhD in Economics from Princeton University in 1994. He then joined the faculty of HKUST, where he is currently Chair Professor of the Department of Economics. He also taught at the National University of Singapore from 2008 to 2011. He was a Program Committee Member of the Far Eastern Econometric Society Meeting in 2005-07, and the Symposium on Econometric Theory and Applications in 2007-09. He also served as a Panel Member in Research Grants Committee in 2006-08.

Prof. Chen’s research interests include theoretical and applied microeconometrics. He has published papers in renowned journals including Annals of Statistics, Econometric Theory, Journal of American Statistical Association and Journal of Econometrics, He is a Member of Econometric Society. He is also a Fellow as well as the Associate Editor of Journal of Econometrics.
