Dr. Jeongwon Lee received his BSc in Physics from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2007 followed by his PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan in 2012. During 2012-2015, Dr. Lee was a research scientist at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, the National Metrology Institute of South Korea. Afterwards, Dr. Lee resumed a postdoctoral fellow position at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2016 to 2018. In 2019, Dr. Lee was appointed a Junior Fellow in the Institute for Advanced Study at HKUST.

Dr. Lee has authored and co-authored several research papers in leading scientific journals such as Nature, Physical Review Letters, etc. His research is in the field of experimental atomic, molecular and optical physics, with a focus on simulating quantum effects using ultracold atoms in engineered light potentials.
