Dr. Xu Zhiwen received her BSc in Biochemistry from Nanjing University in 2001. After graduation, she joined Prof XUE Hong's group in HKUST and obtained her PhD degree in Biochemistry in 2005. She then worked as a Research Associate in HKUST. In 2008, she joined the IAS HKUST-Scripps R&D laboratory, which is supervised by Prof. Paul SCHIMMEL (IAS Senior Visiting Member) and Prof. ZHANG Mingjie, and is currently a Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Xu has authored and co-authored 17 scientific papers and is one of the inventors of a US patent. Her current research interests focus on the research and development of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases-related novel therapeutics for treatment of human diseases such as inflammatory disorders.
