Dr. Liu Tong was Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Science and concurrently appointed as a Junior Fellow of the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study. He received his BA in Economics and BSc in Physics from Peking University in 2011 followed by his PhD in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from HKUST in 2018. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Social Science at HKUST during 2018-2019.

Dr. Liu’s research focuses on the environmental determinants of human capital with an interdisciplinary perspective from both economics and science. He investigates environmental damages and disparities in urban and rural contexts to facilitate sustainable economic development.
