Dr. Wei Chaozhen received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY at Buffalo) in 2017, following his BS in Mathematics from Sichuan University in 2012. While he was studying his PhD, he won the College of Arts and Sciences Dissertation Fellowship from SUNY at Buffalo for his dissertation on the topic of the epitaxial growth and shape transitions of quantum dots. In 2017, he joined HKUST IAS as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His current research focuses on the grain boundary dynamics incorporating the effects of microstructures such as dislocations.
Dr. Wei worked with Profs. David SROLOVITZ and XIANG Yang, Department of Mathematics.
