Dr. Tso Chi Yan received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with first class honors, MPhil in Environmental Engineering and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2010, 2012 and 2015 respectively. He won the PhD Research Excellence Award from HKUST in 2016. Obtaining the Fulbright-RGC Hong Kong Research Scholar Award in 2014, he spent 6 months in the University of California at Berkeley as the Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar. Besides, Dr. Tso also received a number of honors such as Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship (2013), the Bronze Award of JEC Outstanding Engineering Project (2013), the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (2012) and Ove Arup Research Prize Awards (2012), etc.
Dr. Tso was a Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a Junior Fellow at the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (IAS). His work covers thermal fluid, particularly, in the fields of sustainable environment, heat transfer, adsorption technology, thermal rectification, nanofluids, passive radiative cooling and energy related issues using numerical simulations as well as advanced experimental techniques.
