Dr. Bo Sun obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology in January 2017, followed by his service as a Research Associate in the Department of Municipal Engineering at Tongji University from January 2017 to September 2017. Dr. Sun was appointed as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at HKUST and Junior Fellow at the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study.

His research areas are primarily in the applications of the permanganate/bisulfite process in water and wastewater treatment, the kinetics and mechanisms of aqueous contaminant degradation by manganese oxidants, catalyzed permanganate oxidation technologies; and advanced oxidation processes.
