Dr. Zhongming Lu received his PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry from Xiamen University in 2007. After graduation, he joined the Ocean Dynamics and Modeling research group led by Prof. GAN Jianping in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as Post-doctoral Research Fellow and later was re-appointed as Research Associate. Dr. Lu expanded his research interest to coupled physical-biogeochemical modelling. In January 2017, he was appointed as Research Assistant Professor of the Division of Environment and Sustainability and Junior Fellow of HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study.

Dr. Lu’s current research interests are nutrient and ecosystem dynamics in the China Seas, biological responses under the interaction of river plume and coastal upwelling in the northern South China Sea, and oxygen depletion in the Pearl River Estuary and Hong Kong Water.
