Some Recent Developments on the Interface States in Photonic Crystals

Abstract

In this talk, the speaker is going to discuss some of his research group’s recent works related to the interface states in photonic crystals. Through numerical simulations and microwave experiments, the speaker and his research group studied the existence of interface states between two photonic crystals and on different edge structures of photonic crystals. They developed new technique to experimentally characterize the properties of these interface states studied.

About the speaker

Prof. Hang Zhihong obtained his BS degree in Physics from Fudan University in 2001 and his MPhil degree and PhD degree in Physics from HKUST in 2004 and 2008 respectively. In 2012, he joined Soochow University and is currently a Professor of Physics and the Director of Institute of Optics and Photonics. His research interests include photonic crystal, metamaterials and light induced force.
