Pseudo Hermitian Quantum Field Theory
Abstract
In quantum field theory, physical operators are postulated to be Hermitian. Transformations generated by Hermitian operators admit unitary evolution which preserve transition probabilities. The theory of pseudo Hermitian operators represents a program to extend the quantum field theory beyond the Hermitian formalism. This program has theoretical appeal because it allows us to study systems whose Hamiltonians are non-Hermitian but still have real spectra and admit generalized unitary evolution. The speaker will start by reviewing the basic properties of pseudo Hermitian Hamiltonians. Subsequently, the speaker will discuss some of the novel features of pseudo Hermitian quantum field theory and problems for future research.
About the Speaker
Dr. LEE Cheng-Yang obtained his doctorate degree in physics from the University of Canterbury in 2012 under the supervision of Dharam Vir Ahluwalia. He has held post doctorate positions at the University of Campinas in Brazil and Manipal University in India. Since 2019, he has been a research assistant at the College of Physics, Sichuan University. His primary areas of research are in quantum field theory and particle physics.
