New Approaches to New Physics from Black Morsels to Standard Model Dualities
Abstract
Many observations point towards the presence of new physics, which has eluded direct discovery so far. The speaker will present two complementary novel approaches to go beyond the Standard Model. Black hole morsels could be produced in some astrophysical events such as black hole mergers, and reveal new physics via observable Hawking radiation. The Standard Model may emerge as the low energy dual of a scalarless fundamental theory. Both theoretical and observational aspects of the two approaches will be addressed.
About the Speaker
Dr. Giacomo CACCIAPAGLIA is a senior CNRS researcher at Sorbonne University in Paris.
He obtained his PhD in theoretical physics at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. He held postdoctoral fellowships at Cornell University and at the University of California, Davis in the US, before joining CNRS in 2008. His current research interests include model building in quantum field theory, collider phenomenology, black hole physics and aspects of quantitative epidemiology and viral genetics.
