AI for Scientific Discoveries
Overview
Remarkable advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have emerged in recent years, transcending the realms of large language models and image processing. AI is fundamentally transforming scientific discovery and facilitating curiosity-driven research across a wide array of fields, including life sciences, chemistry, physics, environmental studies, material science, fluid dynamics, healthcare and economics research.
The IAS Center for AI for Scientific Discoveries is established to foster collaboration and consolidate the groundbreaking efforts of HKUST researchers who are making significant strides in these areas. By uniting their innovative work, the Center provides a mechanism to amplify transformative findings and encourage further research through collaborative endeavors. The Center’s mission includes strengthening HKUST’s leadership in AI-driven scientific research by enhancing collective efforts to nurture innovation and unlock new possibilities. The Center also serves as a dynamic platform for identifying collaborative opportunities among HKUST researchers, enabling groundbreaking advancements that can redefine the understanding of complex scientific challenges and providing a robust foundation for interdisciplinary engagement and exploration.
As part of the Center’s activities, this lecture series aims to stimulate discussion and the exchange of ideas. Speakers will be invited to meet with local researchers to foster new collaborations.
