Scale Hierarchies and String Cosmology

Abstract

In this talk, the speaker will discuss the problem of scale hierarchies in particle physics and cosmology. In particular, he will present a framework to relate the scales of supersymmetry breaking and inflation by identifying the inflaton with the goldstino superpartner. In this context, he will also propose a mechanism for supersymmetry breaking in the presence of a tiny (tunable) positive cosmological constant and describe its phenomenological consequences.
