Quantum Information Science – Topics about Quantum Computing
Abstract
In this lecture, the speaker will cover (if time allows) some basic concepts of quantum computing, Haar random and its application in quantum error correction and cryptography, quantum machine learning (variational quantum algorithms), classical shadows, QAOA and its relation to spin glass models in the limit of large graph.
About the Speaker
Dr. LIU Junyu is an incoming assistant professor of computer science in the University of Pittsburgh, USA. He earned his PhD in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 2021, and his bachelor's degree in physics from University of Science and Technology of China in 2016. In 2021-2024 he worked as a postdoc fellow with the University of Chicago and IBM. He also served as a co-founder of SeQure, a company for AI and cryptography starting from 2022. Dr. Liu has a keen interest in the combination of physics and computing, especially machine learning and quantum technologies. His work encompasses areas such as quantum machine learning, quantum error correction, quantum communication and quantum networks.
