About the speaker

Shu Ting, resides in Gulangyu, Xiamen in Fujian province, a small island in the southern shore of China near Taiwan. She began to writing poems in 1969, Her work titled, the poem “To The Oak” was published in the journal “Today” in 1978 and then reproduced by the national journal “Poetry Periodical” which led to various comments. She is one of the key figures who created misty poems. Her works includes poem collections “Double Gardenia Boat”, “The Iris Who Can Sing”, “The Arcteryx”, “Shu Ting’s Poems” and prose collections “The Soul”, “The Mood in Autumn”, “Campsis Radicans”, “The Thought in the Dewdrop”, “To Mom”, “Shu Ting's Prose” etc. The works have been published in more than 20 languages. She has been invited to visit more than 20 countries, attending the international poetry festivals in India, Holland, Italy, Israel etc and also to essential culture communication events including the Horizon Art Festival in Berlin (1985), the Third Talk of Writers Between China and US (1986), The Years of Chinese culture in Russia (2007) and the Cultural Event Between China and Korea (2008) etc. She has given speeches about recitals in more than 30 cities and universities.

She serves as the committee member of China Writer’s Association and the deputy Chairwoman of Federation of Literary and Art in Fujian Province, the Chairwoman of the Federation of Literary and Art of Xiamen City. She is also the representative of the twelfth National People's Congress.

舒婷，世居福建廈門鼓浪嶼。1969年開始寫詩，作品《致橡樹》先刊載於1978 年民間刊物《今天》，後被國家《詩刊》轉載。此後，引發多種討論， 為「朦朧詩」主要代表詩人之一。主要作品有詩集《雙桅船》、《會唱歌的鳶尾花》、《始祖鳥》、《舒婷的詩》； 散文集：《心煙》、《秋天的情緒》、《硬骨淩霄》、《露珠裡的“詩想”》，《真水無香》和《舒婷文集》三卷。作品被翻譯二十多個國家的文字發表，境外出版有6個語種9部詩歌個人譯本。 多次應邀出訪歐美等20多個國家和地區，個人出席印度、荷蘭、義大利、以色列等多個國際詩歌節，並隨中國作家代表團參加“柏林地平線藝術節”（1985）；「中美作家第三次會談 」（1986）；「俄羅斯中國文化年」（2007）；「中韓文學人大會」（2008）等重要國際文化交流。在國外30多座城市和大學朗誦講座。

現任中國作家協會主席團委員、福建省文聯副主席、廈門市文聯主席、第十二屆全國人大代表。
