Exotic Energy Injection in the Early Universe
Abstract
The production of electromagnetically interacting particles in the early Universe is a generic prediction of many extensions of both the standard models of particle physics and cosmology. In this talk, the speaker will give an overview of recent progress in understanding how injected particles deposit their energy into regular matter, and highlight some novel signatures of new physics that are well within current and near-future experimental reach.
About the Speaker
Dr. LIU Hongwan is jointly appointed as the David Schramm Fellow in theoretical astrophysics at Fermilab, and a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Chicago's Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP). From 2019 to 2023, he was a joint postdoctoral fellow at New York University's Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics, and Princeton University. He received his PhD in physics from MIT in 2019.
