A Tale of Higher-derivatives and the Kähler Potential

Abstract

About 5 years ago, the speaker started his PhD in Munich. Soon, he discovered a potential alpha’ˆ2-correction to the Kähler potential in four dimensions, of which the faith has been under investigation ever since. In this talk, he will review the novel insights into the starting point to this quest, namely, higher derivatives in 10d/11d, and will draw resulting conclusions to the correction to the Kähler potential in 3d/4d. Furthermore, he will also discuss other potential alpha’-corrections to the scalar potential in 4d.
